Puzzibly Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 15, 2026
This policy explains what information the Puzzibly app ("Puzzibly", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. Puzzibly is made by iota.
The short version
- You never create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details. Purchases go through Google Play or the App Store, never through us.
- Your progress (XP, coins, streaks, badges, settings) lives on your phone and is not backed up by us or by Android.
- To run multiplayer, Ranked Match, Groups, and stats features, we store a random game ID with your game results on our servers.
- We collect pseudonymous usage statistics (tied to a random ID, not to your name) to improve the app; you can turn this off in Settings.
- If the app crashes, it sends a crash report with technical details only, so we can fix the problem.
- We do not show ads, and we do not sell your information.
Information stored on your phone
Puzzibly keeps most of your data only on your phone: your progress, coins, cosmetics, badges, streaks, settings, puzzle history for the Continue and Next Puzzle features, the players you have hidden, and a copy of the puzzle library. Uninstalling the app removes it.
Puzzibly turns off Android's automatic app backup, so this data is not copied to your Google account. If you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, you start fresh with a new game ID. Puzzibly Premium comes back with Restore Purchases (see Purchases below).
Information we collect
A random game ID
The first time you play, the app creates a random ID on your phone. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any account. We use it to connect your results to features such as rankings and stats.
The app also creates a random secret that stays on your phone. Our servers keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it, to check that requests for your game ID really come from your phone.
Your player name
If you set a player name (Settings > Profile), it is stored on our servers with your game ID and shown to other players in multiplayer rooms, Ranked Match, Groups, and leaderboards. Please do not use your real full name or other personal details as your player name.
Game results
When you use these features, we store your results with your game ID:
- Multiplayer rooms and Ranked Match: the puzzle played, your placement, correctness, moves, time, mistakes, hints used, and rating changes.
- Card Clash: match results, rounds won and lost, the decks played, and rewards earned.
- Ranked Match seasons: your rating, division, points, season results, and your region (see below).
- Groups: the groups you create or join, their names and join codes, and when members last played.
- Extended Stats: your solo puzzle results (puzzle, correctness, moves, time). Results played offline are saved on your phone and sent later, with a random result ID so the same result is never saved twice.
- Badge rarity: which badges you have unlocked and when, used to show how rare a badge is ("X% of players have this").
Your region
The app reads a country or region code (for example, "US") from your phone's language and region settings. We store it with your Ranked Match season standing, and it decides which regional leaderboard you appear on, where other players can see you. It is also used for Regional ranked matches. We do not use GPS or your precise location.
Reports you send
You can report another player's name (tap ••• next to their name, then Report this name). We store your game ID, the reported name, the reported player's game ID or a scrambled leaderboard key that identifies them, the reason you chose, and where you saw the name (for example a room or a leaderboard). We use reports only to review names and remove those that break our rules.
You can report a problem with a puzzle from the puzzle's results screen. We store the puzzle, the reason you chose, any note you write, the order you submitted, and the app build. If your phone's secret checks out, we also store your game ID, so we can limit repeat reports. Please do not include personal details in the note.
Hiding a player happens only on your phone. Nothing is sent to us, and the other player is not told.
Usage statistics
To understand which features are used and to fix problems, the app sends usage events such as "puzzle started", "puzzle completed", "hint used", and "achievement unlocked", along with the app version and build, your operating system version, and a random analytics ID. These statistics are pseudonymous: the analytics ID is random and stays the same on your phone, but it is not your game ID, your name, or any account. When a screen fails to load, the app also sends a technical error report with these statistics. Usage statistics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings > Share Usage Data.
Our multiplayer server also records match events (for example, players disconnecting and reconnecting, and ranked results) with your game ID, to keep multiplayer working reliably. When you turn off Share Usage Data, the server leaves your game ID out of these events. Room-wide counts that contain no game ID (for example, "a room was created" or "a round finished with 4 players") are still recorded.
Crash reports
When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a crash report so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains technical details only: what went wrong in the app's code, the app version and build, your phone model and operating system version, and the steps in the app just before the error (such as which screen was open). It does not contain your game ID, your player name, or your IP address. Crash reports are sent even when Share Usage Data is off, because they contain nothing that identifies you and they are how we keep the app working.
Notifications
If you turn on Remind Me to Play, the app schedules reminders on your phone. If you also play Ranked Match or Groups, we store a push notification token with your game ID so we can tell you about season results and group updates. You can turn notifications off in Settings or in your phone's settings.
Camera
The app uses your camera only to scan a room's QR code to join a game. The camera image is not saved or sent anywhere.
Messages you send us
If you email us (for example with Settings > Send Feedback), we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply and to improve Puzzibly.
Technical information
Like any app that connects to the internet, the services we use receive your phone's IP address and basic technical details when the app makes a request. Our analytics provider may use the IP address to estimate a rough country or city for overall statistics.
How we use information, and why we are allowed to
We use information only for these purposes, each with its legal basis:
- To provide the game you asked for (multiplayer rooms, Ranked Match, Card Clash, Groups, seasons, leaderboards, stats, badges, and Premium purchases): this is needed to provide the app under our Terms of Use (contract).
- To understand how the app is used and improve it (usage statistics): our legitimate interest in keeping Puzzibly working and making it better. You can object at any time by turning off Share Usage Data.
- To find and fix crashes (crash reports): our legitimate interest in a working app. Crash reports contain nothing that identifies you.
- To keep Puzzibly safe and fair (the per-phone secret, report handling, offensive-name checks, and limits that stop cheating and abuse): our legitimate interest in protecting players and the game.
- To send notifications: your consent, given when you turn notifications on. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings.
- To meet legal duties (for example keeping purchase records): our legal obligations.
We do not use information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who we share information with
We use these service providers to run Puzzibly, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase (database, puzzle library, and reports)
- Colyseus Cloud (multiplayer game server)
- PostHog (usage statistics and error reports)
- Sentry (crash reports)
- Expo (push notification delivery)
- RevenueCat (purchase status for Puzzibly Premium; see Purchases below)
- Google Play and the Apple App Store (app distribution and payments)
Other players see your player name, rankings, region on regional leaderboards, and game results in multiplayer and leaderboards, and a supporter badge next to your name if you have had Puzzibly Premium. Other players never see the reports you send. We may also disclose information if required by law.
These providers may store and process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and Singapore.
How long we keep information
- Game results, rankings, and stats: for as long as the features that use them are offered, or until you ask us to delete them. We may delete older history to keep the service running smoothly.
- Groups: groups that stay inactive are removed automatically after a warning period.
- Reports: for as long as we need them to handle the report and spot repeated abuse, or until you ask us to delete your data.
- Usage statistics: kept by PostHog for up to one year, then deleted.
- Crash reports: kept by Sentry for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Purchase records: kept for 5 years after the purchase, as tax rules require, then deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Usage statistics: turn off Settings > Share Usage Data. Crash reports are still sent; they contain no game ID, name, or IP address.
- Notifications: turn off Remind Me to Play in Settings, or notifications in your phone's settings.
- Player name: change it at any time in Settings.
- Hiding players: hide another player from the ••• menu next to their name; this stays on your phone.
- Deleting your data: uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on your phone. To delete the information stored on our servers, email privacy@puzzibly.com with your game ID, found in Settings > About (tap Copy to copy it). We then delete, from our game server and database, your game results, stats, rankings and region, badges, player name, notification token, phone secret, and the reports you sent. Groups you own pass to the member who has been in them longest, or close if you are the only member. We also ask PostHog to delete the match events stored with your game ID. Usage statistics stored under the random analytics ID cannot be linked to your game ID, so we cannot find them; they are deleted after the retention period above. Crash reports contain no game ID and are deleted after the retention period above. Reports other players sent about your player name may be kept, so we can handle them. We keep the records of your purchases for 5 years after the purchase, because tax rules require them, and then delete them. Full steps: Delete your data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, to object to or restrict its use, and to receive a copy of it. Email us to use any of these rights.
If you are not happy with how we handled your information, you can complain to a data protection authority. In the Philippines, this is the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph). In the European Union or the United Kingdom, it is the data protection authority where you live.

Children
Puzzibly's content is suitable for ages 7 and up, but the app is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Purchases
Puzzibly Premium (a subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase) is bought through Google Play or the Apple App Store. The store handles payment; we never see or store your card or payment details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether you have Premium. RevenueCat receives your game ID, the product you bought, purchase and renewal dates, and the store's purchase receipt, which may include your country and currency. Our servers keep a record of which game IDs have Premium, so features such as Groups can apply Premium limits, and a record that your game ID has supported Puzzibly, for the supporter badge.
If you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, Restore Purchases moves your Premium to your new game ID. It does not move your stats, rankings, groups, or player name. If you want those moved too, email us with both game IDs and we will move them for you.
Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Google Play or App Store account settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app.
